The Catnic BSD100 100mm box lintel is a standard-duty steel lintel for openings in 100mm internal brick or block walls, including load-bearing construction. Its box-section profile is designed to accommodate specified masonry, floor and roof loads, including point loads where appropriate. Manufactured from galvanised steel with Catnic's black Duplex corrosion protection finish, the BSD100 incorporates an integral plaster key and is available in a range of lengths to suit different structural openings.
Designed for 100mm internal brick or block masonry walls, including suitable load-bearing applications.
Published safe working loads of 19kN, 20kN, 29kN or 27kN, depending on the selected length.
Can accommodate specified masonry, floor and roof loading conditions, including concrete-floor and point loads where supported by the structural design.
Staggered perforations within the box profile provide an integral key for plaster finishing.
Galvanised steel with Catnic's black polyester powder coating provides additional corrosion resistance.
The BSD100 is manufactured in different section sizes, with nominal height and weight changing according to lintel length.

The safe working load and section height of the Catnic BSD100 vary according to lintel length. The following figures are taken from Catnic's published technical specifications.
| Lintel length | SWL | Nominal height |
|---|---|---|
| 750–2100mm | 19kN | 143mm |
| 2250–2700mm | 20kN | 143mm |
| 2850–3600mm | 29kN | 219mm |

The BSD100 is designed for 100mm internal solid masonry walls, including internal load-bearing brickwork and blockwork. Unlike lintels intended only for non-load-bearing partitions, the BSD100 can be specified for a broader range of structural loading conditions where its published capacity is sufficient.
Typical loading considerations include masonry above the opening, timber floor or roof loading, concrete floors and concentrated loads. The correct lintel must be selected according to the structural design rather than assuming that every BSD100 length is appropriate for every application.
Catnic specifies nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. The required lintel length is normally determined by adding 300mm to the structural opening width.
For example, a 1200mm structural opening would normally require a 1500mm lintel. The selected lintel must also provide sufficient safe working load for the intended construction.
For different loading requirements, compare the following lintels and check their individual safe working load tables:

Yes. Catnic specifies the BSD100 for 100mm internal load-bearing masonry walls. The actual wall construction and applied loads must fall within the selected lintel's design capacity.
The safe working load depends on lintel length. Catnic publishes ratings from 19kN to 29kN across the range, with a 27kN rating for the 4800mm length. Refer to the loading table above for the applicable length group.
Yes. The BSD100 has an integral plaster key formed by staggered perforations in its box profile.
Catnic specifies nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. The correct lintel must also be selected according to the structural loading and opening dimensions.
