The Birtley HD50 heavy duty cavity lintel supports masonry above openings in walls with a 50–65mm cavity, a 100mm outer leaf and a 100mm inner leaf. Choose from 15 lengths between 900mm and 4800mm, including a 2850mm option.
The HD50 combines structural-grade steel, post-fabrication hot-dip galvanising and factory-fitted insulation. Check the length-specific load rating below when selecting your lintel.

Installation requirements
- Provide at least 150mm end bearing at each end.
- Bed the lintel fully on bricklaying mortar.
- Provide solid, fully jointed blockwork infill to the inner leaf.
- Use a cavity tray for external wall installations.
- Follow Birtley’s installation guidance and the project’s structural specification.
Choosing the correct length
Allow for the clear opening and the required bearing at both ends. For example, a 1500mm lintel accommodates a 1200mm clear opening with 150mm bearing at each end, subject to the loading and construction requirements being satisfied.
