Builders Trestles Key Features:

  • Independently Tested to BS 1139-4:1982
  • SWL of 460kg at 1.2M Centres
  • Adjustable Height
  • Zinc-plated tubular steel
  • Captive pins
  • Lightweight, yet Strong & Durable
  • Designed to fit 4 x scaffold boards for a wide, safe platform

A traditional tool for masonry and carpentry jobs, metal trestles have, for decades, been a reliable partner to many trades.

Made from lightweight steel for easy handling, these work trestles are tough enough to take on 460 kg at 1.2m centres.

Wade’s builder’s trestles are wide enough to take four scaffold boards, delivering a safe working platform with the space for all your tools and materials.

Zinc-coated for a longer life, these trestles will deliver years of steady service. Available in three sizes, choose from working heights of between 0.46m to 1.74m.

There are a few things to remember when using metal trestles:

  • Always check a trestle for damage or deformation before use
  • Never overload the trestles beyond the recommended safe working load (SWL)
  • Make sure the trestles are set up on a flat, level, and stable surface (ideally concrete)
  • Don’t use wedges, shims, or blocks below the trestles to level them up, or raise the working platform.
  • Keep metal trestles tidy and clean up any mortar spills. Mortar will stick to metal trestles and could restrict the movement of the captive pins, making adjustment difficult
  • Remember not to stand on the overhang beyond the end trestles, even if the scaffold boards are loaded with materials as it could make the platform unstable
  • For stability and safety, the scaffold boards should extend up to a recommended 600mm beyond each end trestle to maximise support and minimise deformation
  • Trestle assemblies are ideal for short-duration works i.e. brick or blockwork coursing up to ceiling height in a single lift
  • For longer duration working at height jobs, a more robust scaffold may be required
  • Always check the trestles have not been altered or damaged between shifts, or suffered from ice, or other weather conditions that might have left the scaffold board surface hazardous
  • Ensure easy, safe access to the working level is available, and that any necessary warning signs are set up to protect the user and neighbouring trades
  • Clean the trestles after use and store in a dry, secure location
