Featheredge fencing is a traditional, practical design used across residential boundaries. A six-foot panel can provide privacy from passers-by and help secure public-facing garden fences.
The close-boarded finish means there is no mid-panel visibility, while the vertical overlapping boards help direct rainwater away from the surface.
The panel can be customised at the end of a run or around corners, and the top can also be cut to create a curve where required.
Choose a 6x6 featheredge panel where a taller traditional timber boundary is required for privacy and security. These panels are suited to many residential garden fencing projects and can be fitted between slotted concrete posts.
Six-by-six panels are a two-person lift. For a non-standard final panel, remove the featheredging to the required width, cut the cross rails and refit the featheredge strips. A jigsaw or circular saw can be used to trim a strip.
The original guidance also explains how to cut a curve across the top using a jigsaw and recommends treating cut ends with wood preserver. For public-facing boundaries, keep the climbable cross rails on your side of the fence.

We Went with Wade for there reasonable prices especially having quite a few large orders, We was pleased with the concrete posts and gravel boards and the wooden panels was so much nicer and better quality then any others at similar Prices. But the costumer service and delivery drivers was exceptional always answered the phone’s straight away and helped with any queries promptly and efficiently, the delivery drivers were friendly and went beyond expectations when unloading alone, I often offered my dads help but being he is in his early 70s they was very mindful to only take up his help on light objects and the driver always said he was happy to do heavier objects himself.
