The Birtley HD90 Heavy Duty 100mm Cavity Wall Lintel is a heavy-duty steel lintel designed for cavity widths of 90–105mm, with a 100mm outer leaf and 100mm inner leaf. Manufactured from S275JR structural-grade mild steel, it has a 65µm Supergalv hot-dip galvanised coating applied after fabrication and factory-fitted expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation. The HD90 has no baseplate and includes a plaster key to the inner leaf. Birtley requires the inner leaf to have a solid, fully jointed blockwork infill. Wade stocks 14 lengths from 900mm to 4800mm.

It is suitable only where the required solid, fully jointed blockwork infill is provided to the inner leaf. Installation Requirements

  • Bed the lintel fully on bricklaying mortar.
  • Provide a minimum end bearing of 150mm.
  • Provide solid, fully jointed blockwork infill to the inner leaf.
  • Use with a cavity tray on external wall installations. Birtley specifies this requirement for external walls only.
