The Birtley EV100 is a C-shaped steel lintel for supporting masonry above openings in 100mm single leaf external walls. Available in lengths from 1200mm to 3900mm, its load capacity and section dimensions vary by length. Check the specification table below when selecting your lintel.
Wade offers ten lengths from 1200mm to 3900mm. Choose the overall length and load capacity to suit your opening, end bearings and project specification.

SWL / UDL is the safe working load under uniformly distributed loading. The figures are total loads in kN, not loads per metre. Load capacity does not increase continuously with length: the 3900mm EV100 has a lower rating than the 3300mm and 3600mm versions.
Installation and end bearings
Bed the lintel fully on bricklaying mortar and use a cavity tray for external-wall installations. Birtley’s general installation guidance specifies a minimum 150mm end bearing at each end unless an alternative arrangement has been approved for the project.

Does 100mm refer to the cavity width?
No. It refers to the external masonry leaf supported by this single leaf lintel.
How do I choose the lintel length?
The overall length must include the clear opening and the required end bearings. For example, an 1800mm lintel with 150mm bearing at each end spans a 1500mm clear opening. Its load capacity must also suit the project.
