Thermal performance and cavity wall construction
The TS90/100 uses a thermally broken profile with integral insulation to minimise the transfer of heat through the steel lintel. Catnic publishes independently verified Psi values of 0.02–0.05W/mK for its thermally broken lintel system, supporting improved thermal performance around window and door openings.
Its open-back design allows masonry to be built continuously on both leaves and can accommodate fair-faced inner leaf masonry where specified.
Damp-proof course requirements
A separate DPC tray is required for the Catnic TS90/100. Follow Catnic's current installation guidance for correct damp-proofing, drainage and cavity-wall detailing.
Choosing and installing the correct TS90/100
Catnic's published loading figures use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. As a general starting point, allow 300mm in addition to the clear structural opening width.
For example, a 1200mm opening would normally require a 1500mm lintel, providing 150mm bearing at each end. Confirm the selected lintel's safe working load and the project structural design before installation.
Follow Catnic's current guidance for supporting masonry, temporary propping where required, restraint, insulation continuity and separate DPC installation.
