Catnic CH70/100 Heavy Duty Cavity Wall Lintel

The Catnic CH70/100 is a heavy duty steel lintel for 70–85mm cavity wall construction with 100–115mm inner leaf masonry. Its open-back profile allows masonry to be built continuously on both the outer and inner leaves.

Manufactured from galvanised steel and supplied fully insulated, the CH70/100 incorporates an integral plaster key and built-in DPC profile. It is designed for typical masonry, timber floor and roof loads, and is suitable for fairfaced inner leaf masonry.

Typical Applications

The CH70/100 is designed for heavy duty openings in cavity wall construction where the cavity is 70–85mm and the inner leaf is 100–115mm. It supports typical masonry, timber floor and roof loads and is suitable for fairfaced inner leaf masonry, subject to the applicable loading and installation requirements.

Installation & Technical Notes

150mm minimum end bearing: Catnic's published SWL data is based on 150mm end bearings. Ensure the lintel is installed with the required bearing for the application.

Build both leaves together: Follow the manufacturer's installation sequence and ensure the masonry is built correctly around the lintel.

Concrete floors: When using Catnic CH and CX Open Back ranges with concrete floors, Catnic states that blockwork should be built tight against the inner vertical face, with a mortar joint at the top of the blockwork so floor units have an even spread over the inner flange.

Load selection: Safe working load varies by lintel length. Select the correct CH70/100 length using the manufacturer's load/span information.

Sorry, wasn't able to attach pictures. The lintel did not arrive when they said it would, I don't think the order had been placed. I had arranged the builder which I had to pay for the day . They then sent me one they had in stock the following day which wasn't the same size and was also clearly second hand and was damaged. Again I had the builder booked so had no option but to use this one, which I told them only to be asked the below !!!! Hi Marc, I’m very sorry that you’re not happy with the lintel, would you like for me to order a new 1 in and get that sent out to you? Or would you just like me to arrange collection and refund? Nobody has got back to me or done anything about this so I am now having to chase. This really is unacceptable. Regards, Marc
