Sorry, wasn't able to attach pictures. The lintel did not arrive when they said it would, I don't think the order had been placed. I had arranged the builder which I had to pay for the day . They then sent me one they had in stock the following day which wasn't the same size and was also clearly second hand and was damaged. Again I had the builder booked so had no option but to use this one, which I told them only to be asked the below !!!! Hi Marc, I’m very sorry that you’re not happy with the lintel, would you like for me to order a new 1 in and get that sent out to you? Or would you just like me to arrange collection and refund? Nobody has got back to me or done anything about this so I am now having to chase. This really is unacceptable. Regards, Marc

Where to use a Catnic CH70/100 lintel
The CH70/100 is designed for heavy duty masonry cavity-wall construction with a 70–85mm cavity. It can support specified masonry, timber floor and roof loads, provided the selected lintel has sufficient capacity for the intended construction.
Its open-back profile allows masonry to be built continuously on both leaves and is suitable for fair-faced inner leaf masonry.
Choosing the correct CH70/100 length
Catnic's published loading figures use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. As a general starting point, add 300mm to the clear structural opening width to allow for these bearings.
For example, a 1200mm opening would normally require a 1500mm lintel, with 150mm bearing at each end. The selected lintel's safe working load must also be sufficient for the structure above.
Installation and concrete floor support
Check the cavity width, masonry leaf dimensions and supporting wall construction before installation. Follow Catnic's guidance for nominal end bearings, temporary support and restraint.
When using Catnic CH and CX open-back lintels with concrete floors, build the blockwork tightly against the lintel's inner vertical face. Add a mortar joint at the top of the blockwork to distribute floor-unit loads evenly across the inner flange.

Frequently asked questions
What cavity width is the Catnic CH70/100 designed for?
The CH70/100 is designed for 70–85mm cavities, with a 100–115mm inner masonry leaf and a 100–102mm outer leaf.
What lengths of Catnic CH70/100 do you supply?
We offer eight lengths: 900mm, 1200mm, 1500mm, 1650mm, 1800mm, 2100mm, 2250mm and 2400mm. Choose the size you need from the options above.
What is the safe working load of a CH70/100?
Catnic specifies 32kN for lengths from 900mm to 1800mm, 48kN for 1950–2100mm and 45kN for 2250–2400mm, subject to the manufacturer's loading conditions.
Does the CH70/100 have a built-in DPC?
Yes. The CH70/100 incorporates a built-in damp-proof course. Additional DPC may be required depending on the installation and exposure conditions.
Does the CH70/100 have integral insulation and a plaster key?
Yes. Catnic supplies the CH70/100 with integral insulation and an integral plaster key to assist finishing.
Can the CH70/100 support concrete floors?
Catnic provides installation guidance for CH and CX open-back lintels supporting concrete floors. Blockwork must be built tight against the inner vertical face, with a mortar joint at the top to distribute loading evenly over the lintel's inner flange. The proposed structural loads must also be checked.
How much end bearing does the CH70/100 require?
Catnic's published safe working loads are based on nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. Confirm the selected lintel length and load capacity before installation.
