Our Catnic CN50C and CN51C standard duty T lintels are designed for openings in 200–215mm external solid masonry walls, particularly construction with two separate leaves of fair-faced brickwork. These two-piece, inverted T-section steel lintels provide safe working loads of 10kN or 12kN depending on the model. We offer eight lengths from 900mm to 2700mm, with Catnic's galvanised and black powder-coated Duplex corrosion protection finish.
Catnic CN50C and CN51C key features
200–215mm external solid walls
Designed for suitable solid masonry wall construction, including two separate leaves of fair-faced brickwork.
Inverted T-section construction
A two-piece lintel arrangement designed to support the masonry leaves above an opening.
Standard duty loading
10kN safe working load for CN50C and 12kN for CN51C, subject to Catnic's loading conditions.
Different profiles by length
CN50C has a nominal height of 91mm, while the longer CN51C has a 167mm nominal height.
Duplex corrosion protection
Galvanised steel with Catnic's protective black powder-coated finish.
Eight lengths
Choose from five CN50C lengths and three CN51C lengths, between 900mm and 2700mm.

Where to use a Catnic T-shaped lintel
Catnic CN50C and CN51C lintels are designed for external solid masonry walls with a nominal thickness of 200mm or 215mm. Their two-piece inverted T-section construction is particularly suited to supporting the separate masonry leaves of a 215mm fair-faced brick wall over a structural opening.
These are not conventional combined cavity-wall lintels. Check the wall construction carefully before ordering, particularly where the wall contains a cavity or requires insulation.
Choosing the correct length
Catnic's published loading figures use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. In a typical installation, allow 300mm beyond the clear structural opening width to provide these bearings.
For example, a 1200mm structural opening would normally require a 1500mm CN50C lintel. The selected model must also provide sufficient safe working load for the proposed masonry construction.
Installation considerations
Both masonry leaves and their supporting bearings must be suitable for the specified loads. Follow Catnic's current installation guidance and the project structural design, including any required temporary support during construction.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Catnic CN50C and CN51C?
Both are standard duty T-shaped lintels for 200–215mm external solid walls. The CN50C covers shorter lengths from 900mm to 1800mm with a 10kN safe working load and 91mm nominal height. The CN51C covers 2100mm to 2700mm, with a 12kN safe working load and 167mm nominal height.
What is a Catnic T lintel used for?
A Catnic T lintel is designed to support masonry over an opening. The CN50C and CN51C ranges are intended for suitable 200–215mm external solid walls, including construction with two separate leaves of fair-faced brickwork.
What lengths are available?
We offer CN50C lengths of 900mm, 1200mm, 1350mm, 1500mm and 1800mm, together with CN51C lengths of 2100mm, 2400mm and 2700mm. Choose your required size from the options above.
Are CN50C and CN51C suitable for cavity walls?
No. Catnic specifies these models for external solid masonry walls, not combined cavity-wall construction. For a cavity wall, choose a lintel designed for the relevant cavity and masonry leaf dimensions.
Do these lintels have insulation?
No. Both the CN50C and CN51C are non-insulated steel lintels.
What end bearings are required?
Catnic's published load ratings are based on nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. Check the structural opening and loading requirements before choosing a length.
