The Catnic CN81C heavy duty solid wall lintel is designed to support masonry loads above openings in 200–215mm external solid brick or block walls. Its steel box-section profile is manufactured from galvanised steel with Catnic's black Duplex corrosion protection finish. Wade supplies the CN81C in 12 lengths from 2100mm to 4800mm, with safe working loads ranging from 26kN to 54kN depending on length.
Catnic CN81C key features
Heavy duty
Designed for structural openings requiring higher load capacity in suitable external solid masonry walls.
200–215mm solid walls
Specified for external solid brick or block wall construction with a nominal wall thickness of 200mm or 215mm.
Steel box-section profile
The box-shaped steel profile provides structural support and resistance to twisting during construction.
Duplex corrosion protection
Manufactured from galvanised steel with Catnic's protective black polyester powder coating.
Up to 54kN safe working load
Catnic specifies length-dependent safe working loads from 54kN on shorter models to 26kN at 4800mm.
12 lengths available
Choose from 12 CN81C sizes between 2100mm and 4800mm, available from Wade.

Where to use a Catnic CN81C lintel
The CN81C is a heavy duty lintel for structural openings in 200mm and 215mm external solid masonry walls. It is intended for construction where the supporting wall and imposed loads are compatible with the selected lintel's published capacity.
Unlike a cavity-wall lintel, the CN81C is specified for solid-wall construction. Confirm the wall thickness and construction type before ordering.
Choosing the correct CN81C length
Catnic specifies nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. When calculating the required lintel length, allow for the clear structural opening plus the bearing required on both sides.
For example, a 2400mm opening would normally require a 2700mm lintel when allowing 150mm bearing at each end. The selected lintel must also have sufficient safe working load for the intended application.
Installation considerations
The supporting masonry and installation must be suitable for the intended loads. Follow Catnic's current technical guidance and the project structural design, including any temporary support requirements during construction.
Related Catnic solid wall lintels
For other wall dimensions and loading requirements, compare the Catnic CN71A standard duty solid wall lintel, which is also designed for suitable 200–215mm external solid masonry walls.
Check the wall construction, lintel length and safe working load before selecting an alternative model.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Catnic CN81C lintel used for?
The Catnic CN81C is a heavy duty steel lintel designed for structural openings in 200–215mm external solid masonry walls. The selected lintel must be suitable for the intended wall construction and loads.
What lengths of Catnic CN81C are available?
Wade supplies 12 CN81C lengths, from 2100mm to 4800mm. Select the required size from the available product options.
What is the safe working load of a Catnic CN81C?
The safe working load ranges from 54kN for lengths of 2100–2700mm to 26kN at 4800mm. Intermediate lengths have ratings of 47kN, 39kN or 29kN, as shown in the loading table above.
Is the Catnic CN81C suitable for a cavity wall?
Catnic specifies the CN81C for 200–215mm external solid masonry walls. For cavity-wall applications, select a lintel specifically designed for the relevant cavity and wall construction, or seek technical advice before specifying an alternative use.
How much end bearing does a CN81C lintel require?
Catnic's published loading figures are based on nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. The correct length and loading capacity must be checked for the structural opening.
What corrosion protection does the CN81C have?
The CN81C is manufactured from galvanised steel with Catnic's black powder coating, providing Duplex corrosion protection.
