The Catnic CCS 100mm single-leaf lintel is a standard-duty C-section steel lintel designed to support masonry loads above openings in suitable 100–102mm single-leaf walls. Manufactured from galvanised steel with Catnic's black Duplex corrosion protection finish, the CCS range offers lengths from 750mm to 4800mm, with safe working loads of 15kN or 20kN depending on length.

Catnic CCS key features

Single-leaf masonry

Designed for suitable 100–102mm single-leaf brick or block wall construction.

Standard-duty loading

Safe working loads of 15kN for shorter lengths and 20kN for longer lengths, subject to Catnic's specified loading conditions.

C-section profile

A channel-shaped steel section designed to support masonry above structural openings.

Duplex corrosion protection

Galvanised steel with Catnic's black polyester powder coating for additional corrosion resistance.

Range of lengths

Manufactured in lengths from 750mm to 4800mm, with the available Wade options selectable above.

Masonry and timber floor loads

Designed for specified masonry and timber floor loading applications where the calculated load is within the lintel's rated capacity.

Where to use a Catnic CCS lintel

The CCS is designed for 100–102mm single-leaf masonry construction, where a C-section lintel is specified to support suitable masonry or timber floor loads above an opening.

The Catnic CCS lintel is suitable for both internal and external single-leaf masonry applications, although it is predominantly used externally. Installation must meet Catnic's specified wall construction, loading and support requirements.

Unlike a combined cavity-wall lintel, the CCS supports a single leaf of masonry. Wall construction, load requirements and the chosen length must all be checked against the manufacturer's specifications before installation.

Choosing the correct CCS lintel length

Catnic specifies nominal 150mm end bearings. The lintel length is therefore normally calculated by adding 300mm to the structural opening width, allowing 150mm bearing at each end.

For example, a 1200mm structural opening would normally require a 1500mm lintel. The selected length must also have a sufficient safe working load for the intended construction.

Installation and support requirements

Catnic CCS lintels must be suitably propped and laterally restrained during construction. To achieve the published loading figures, the lintel must be fully built into the brickwork or blockwork as specified by Catnic.

For a different profile, Wade also supplies the Catnic ANG 100mm single-leaf angle lintel.

Frequently asked questions

What wall thickness is the Catnic CCS designed for?

The Catnic CCS is designed for 100–102mm single-leaf masonry construction. It is not a combined cavity-wall lintel.

Does the Catnic CCS lintel have an integral plaster key?

No. The Catnic CCS lintel does not have an integral plaster key.

What is the safe working load of a Catnic CCS lintel?

CCS lintels from 750mm to 1800mm have a published safe working load of 15kN. Lengths from 1950mm to 4800mm have a published safe working load of 20kN. These ratings are subject to Catnic's specified installation and loading conditions.

Does a Catnic CCS lintel require propping?

Yes. Catnic specifies that CCS lintels must be suitably propped and laterally restrained during construction.

How much end bearing does a CCS lintel need?

Catnic specifies nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. Check the structural opening, the required lintel length and the applicable loading requirements before installation.
