Where to use a Catnic CX130/100 lintel
The CX130/100 is intended for extra heavy duty masonry cavity-wall construction with a 130–145mm cavity. It supports specified masonry, timber floor and roof loads, including suitable concrete floor and attic truss loading arrangements where the structural design and manufacturer guidance permit.
The open-back profile allows masonry to be built up continuously on both leaves and is suitable for fair-faced inner leaf masonry.
Choosing the correct CX130/100 length
Catnic's published loading figures use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. As a general starting point, add 300mm to the clear structural opening width to allow these bearings.
For example, a 1200mm structural opening would normally require a 1500mm lintel, with 150mm bearing at each end. The selected lintel must also have sufficient safe working load for the proposed construction.
Installation and support requirements
Both masonry leaves should be raised together, and the supporting wall construction must provide suitable end bearings. Follow Catnic's guidance for temporary propping, load transfer and lateral restraint during construction.
For concrete floor applications using Catnic CH and CX open-back lintels, build the blockwork tightly against the lintel's inner vertical face. Add a mortar joint at the top of the blockwork so floor units distribute their load evenly across the inner flange.

What is the safe working load of CX130/100?
Catnic specifies 60kN for lengths from 900mm to 2700mm, 55kN at 2850–3000mm, 50kN at 3300–3900mm and 32kN from 4200mm upwards, subject to the manufacturer's loading conditions.
Does the CX130/100 have a built-in DPC?
Yes. The CX130/100 incorporates a built-in damp-proof course. Additional DPC may be required depending on installation and exposure conditions.
Does the CX130/100 include insulation and a plaster key?
Yes. The CX130/100 includes continuous insulation and an integral plaster key.
Can the CX130/100 support concrete floors?
Catnic provides installation guidance for CH and CX open-back lintels supporting concrete floors. Build the blockwork tightly against the lintel's inner vertical face and provide a mortar joint at the top to distribute loading evenly across the inner flange. The structural loads must also be checked.
How much end bearing does a CX130/100 require?
Catnic's published safe working loads use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. Confirm the selected length and load capacity for your structural opening.
