The Catnic CH130/100 Heavy Duty 130mm Cavity Lintel is designed for masonry cavity walls with a 130–145mm cavity, a 100–115mm inner leaf and a 100–102mm outer leaf. Its open-back steel profile supports specified masonry, timber floor and roof loads, while integral insulation, a built-in DPC and plaster key provide practical construction benefits. We supply 11 lengths from 900mm to 2400mm, with safe working loads of 32kN, 48kN or 45kN depending on length.

Catnic CH130/100 key features

Heavy duty loading

Designed for specified masonry, timber floor and roof loading applications in cavity-wall construction.

130–145mm cavity width

Suitable for a 100–115mm inner masonry leaf and a 100–102mm outer leaf.

Open-back profile

Allows masonry to be built up continuously on both leaves and accommodates fair-faced inner leaf masonry.

Built-in DPC

Incorporates a damp-proof course. Additional DPC may be required in some installation or exposure conditions.

Integral insulation and plaster key

Continuous insulation helps reduce thermal bridging, while the integral plaster key assists plaster finishing.

Duplex corrosion protection

Manufactured from galvanised steel with Catnic's protective black polyester powder coating.

Where to use a Catnic CH130/100 lintel

The CH130/100 is designed for heavy duty masonry cavity-wall construction with a cavity width of 130–145mm. It supports specified masonry, timber floor and roof loads where the selected lintel's safe working load is sufficient.

The open-back profile allows masonry to be built continuously on both leaves and is suitable for fair-faced inner leaf masonry.

Choosing the correct CH130/100 length

Catnic's published loading figures use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. As a general starting point, add 300mm to the clear structural opening width to allow for these bearings.

For example, a 1200mm structural opening would normally require a 1500mm lintel, with 150mm bearing at each end. The selected lintel must also provide sufficient safe working load for the intended construction.

Installation and concrete floor support

Check the cavity width, masonry leaf dimensions and supporting wall construction before installation. Follow Catnic's installation guidance for end bearings, temporary propping and restraint.

When using Catnic CH and CX open-back lintels with concrete floors, build the blockwork tightly against the inner vertical face of the lintel. Add a mortar joint at the top of the blockwork to distribute floor-unit loading evenly over the inner flange.

For standard duty applications with the same cavity width, compare our Catnic CG130/100 Standard Duty Cavity Lintel.

For extra heavy duty loading requirements, we also supply the Catnic CX130/100 Extra Heavy Duty Cavity Lintel.
