The Health and Safety at Work Act in the UK states that employers must make suitable and adequate provisions for first aid at work. This requirement extends to self-employed trades too, whether working alone or with others.

The Oakpoint first aid, fire safety and spill management stations are designed for use on larger construction sites where more than one contractor activity is planned. Portable and weather-resistant, these stations can serve a construction site from the first groundbreaking to practical completion.

Fabricated from hard-wearing UV-stabilised MDPE, they are stackable, chemical resistant, and straightforward enough for a single operative to assemble. For additional stability, they can either be filled with water, or fixed down using four in-built anchor points.

At the base, there are cut-outs for either forklift or pallet truck forks to enable swift deployment when site conditions change. Once assembled these stations weigh in at 34 kg each, and up to 154 kg when full.

Available in three colours to indicate first aid; green, fire safety; red, and spill kit; yellow, each station also has a clear display panel for site information and any legal notices that may be required.

The Oakpoint safety stations are 1905 mm tall, which makes them easy to see wherever you are on a pedestrian walkway. They are a metre wide, and just over a metre deep, with a 120 litre capacity.

First Aid Stations

First aid kits are the primary, temporary, emergency supply for the initial treatment of any injury. As such, they should be visible, accessible and regularly monitored to ensure that they remain topped up with commonly used items such as wipes and plasters.

The Oakpoint Station can store small and large items, including PPE or other specialist requirements based on a site’s particular needs. On larger sites, proximity to first aid facilities can help to reduce complications such as the chance of infection further down the line.

Fire Stations

Most sites require strategically placed fire safety stations, usually set along secure exit routes or close by vulnerable areas such as material storage facilities. The Oakpoint Station can store fire extinguishers, and alarm sounders and has space for specialist burns and other fire safety kits.

Fire points also require regular inspection to make sure that the extinguishers are charged, and in date, and appropriate for the current site activity.

Spill Management

The Oakpoint MDPE stations are resistant to attack from a wide range of chemicals and are ideal for deployment by fuelling points, generators or chemical stores. When a spill kit station is kept in a site manager’s office, often the time it takes to retrieve and deploy it means more damage is done.

Installing a spill management station right where the highest chance of a hazardous spill is likely to occur helps in two ways. First, it focuses users, reminding them that a spill could occur, second, it makes rapid deployment in the event of a spill a reality.
