The Catnic TS150/100 Standard Duty Thermally Broken Cavity Lintel is designed for masonry cavity walls with a 150–165mm cavity, a 100–115mm inner leaf and a 100–102mm outer leaf. Its fully insulated, open-back steel profile incorporates a complete thermal break to reduce heat transfer between the masonry leaves. We supply eight lengths from 750mm to 2100mm, with safe working loads of 15kN, 18kN or 20kN depending on length.
Catnic TS150/100 key features
Complete thermal break
Separates the inner and outer steel sections to help reduce thermal bridging around window and door openings.
Standard duty loading
Designed for specified masonry, timber floor and roof loads, with safe working loads up to 20kN across the lengths we supply.
150–165mm cavity walls
Suitable for a 100–115mm inner masonry leaf and a 100–102mm outer leaf.
Integral insulation
Fully insulated construction helps reduce heat loss through the lintel and improve thermal performance at the wall opening.
Open-back profile
Allows masonry to be built continuously on both leaves and accommodates fair-faced inner leaf masonry.
Plaster key and protective finish
Includes an integral plaster key and Catnic's Duplex corrosion protection with black polyester powder coating.

How does the TS150/100 reduce thermal bridging?
Conventional steel cavity lintels can conduct heat between the inner and outer masonry leaves. The Catnic TS150/100 incorporates a complete thermal break between its steel sections, together with integral insulation, to reduce heat transfer around the opening.
Catnic reports Psi values of 0.02–0.05 W/mK for its thermally broken lintel range. The precise performance achieved depends on the wall construction, cavity insulation and junction detailing.
The open-back profile also permits masonry to be built continuously on both leaves and is suitable for fair-faced inner leaf masonry.
Where to use a Catnic TS150/100 lintel
The TS150/100 is intended for standard duty masonry cavity walls with a 150–165mm cavity. It is designed for specified masonry, timber floor and roof loading applications where the chosen length provides sufficient safe working load.
Choosing the correct length
Catnic's published loading figures assume nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. As a general starting point, allow 300mm beyond the clear structural opening to accommodate these bearings.
For example, a 900mm clear structural opening would normally require a 1200mm lintel, providing 150mm bearing at each end. The selected lintel must also have sufficient load capacity for the proposed construction.
Installation and damp-proofing requirements
Check the cavity width, masonry leaf dimensions, end bearings and specified loads before installation. Follow Catnic's current instructions for temporary support, restraint and load transfer.
The published safe working loads do not automatically establish suitability for every concentrated loading, floor or roof arrangement. Follow the project structural design and manufacturer's installation instructions.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Catnic TS150/100?
The TS150/100 is a standard duty thermally broken steel cavity lintel for masonry walls with a 150–165mm cavity. Its complete thermal break helps reduce heat transfer between the inner and outer masonry leaves.
What cavity width is the TS150/100 designed for?
It is designed for a 150–165mm cavity, with a 100–115mm inner masonry leaf and a 100–102mm outer leaf.
What lengths do you supply?
We supply eight TS150/100 lengths: 750mm, 900mm, 1050mm, 1200mm, 1350mm, 1650mm, 1950mm and 2100mm.
What is the safe working load of a TS150/100?
The 750–1350mm lengths we supply are rated at 15kN. The 1650mm lintel is rated at 18kN, and the 1950mm and 2100mm lengths are rated at 20kN, subject to Catnic's loading conditions.
Does the TS150/100 need a separate DPC?
Yes. Catnic specifies a separate DPC tray for the TS150/100. This is an important installation requirement and should not be confused with the built-in DPC found on some conventional Catnic cavity lintels.
Does the TS150/100 have a plaster key?
Yes. The TS150/100 includes an integral plaster key and continuous insulation.
How much end bearing does the TS150/100 require?
Catnic's published safe working loads use nominal 150mm end bearings at each end. Confirm the length and loading capacity against the structural opening and project design.
What is the difference between the TS150/100 and TH150/100?
Both are thermally broken cavity lintels for 150–165mm cavities. The TS150/100 is the standard duty model, while the TH150/100 is designed for heavier loading requirements. Select according to the structural loads and Catnic's published specifications.
