Ensure Wall Dimensions are Correct
Ensure Masonry overhang does not exceed 25mm
Masonry above Lintel should be allowed to cure before applying Floor or Roof Loads
Ensure Lintel is bedded on Mortar
Ensure no more than half SWL is carried by the outer leaf, where the lintel carries an external cavity wall.
Install a Separate DPC in severely exposed conditions
Ensure point loads are not applied directly to the flanges of the lintel
Consider the use of soffit cladding for coastal areas
Locate Window/Door Frame so that the Drip on the Lintel projects forward on the Frame
Ensure Brick Work at End Bearing Point is not Damaged
